Fast story of Mokshada Ekadashi

According to the legend, in ancient times a king named Vaikhanas ruled in Champak city. Once the king saw in his dream that his father was suffering the tortures of hell. The king met Parvat Muni to know the solution to get relief from this suffering. The sage told that the king is suffering this pain due to a sin committed by his father in his previous life. The only solution for this is fasting on Mokshada Ekadashi. The king devoutly observed the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi as per the instructions of the sage and dedicated the virtue of that fast to his father. Due to the influence of this virtue, the king’s father got freedom from the sufferings of hell and went to heaven. Since then the importance of this Ekadashi has increased even more.
