The fear of Hidma was such that people’s breathing stopped on hearing her name. He was killed during a horrific encounter in the Maredumili forest of Andhra Pradesh. There was a reward of Rs 1 crore on Hidma, the top commander of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA). Let us know how the PLGA of which Hidma was the leader was formed and what was the responsibility of Hidma?

The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) was established in the year 2000 by the CPI (Maoist) organization. It was formed as a major armed fighting wing of the Naxalites. Through this, Naxalites wage guerrilla war against the government and security forces. Equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, this organization especially includes combat youth, who are experts in face-to-face encounters.

Hidma was the commander of battalion number-1 of this PLGA. His battalion included about 250 trained Naxalites. The same Hidma was killed by security forces in an encounter on the Andhra and Odisha border at Alluri Sitamaraju district in Andhra Pradesh. Five more Naxalites have been killed along with him. The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) was established in the year 2000.

Was born in Sukma, Chhattisgarh

Madvi Hidma was born in the year 1981 in a village named Puvarti in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. His real name was Santosh but in the forests he was known as Hidma. Hidma was considered the most special, trusted and right hand of notorious Naxalite leader Ramanna. The command of the most deadly actions of Naxalites in Dandakaranya area was mostly in his hands. Due to this, he remained the biggest threat to the security agencies for years.

This is how PLGA became commander

Hidma was the only tribal of Bastar who climbed the ladder of Maoism and made a place in the Central Committee. He was the youngest member of the Central Committee of CPI (Maoist). He was considered the mastermind of involving youth in the Naxal movement. Considering all these qualities, Hidma was made the chief commander of Battalion No. 1 of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA).

Madvi Hidma

Hidma was the conspirator of 26 major attacks, which also includes the Dantewada massacre.

Conspired to attack security forces

Hidma was active in the dense forests of Dantewada, Bijapur and South Sukma. The security agencies had come to know about his battalion that it systematically laid a network of bunkers in the forests. These bunkers were five feet deep, equally wide and were built at a distance of a few meters in the forest. These were used to avoid air attacks and sudden search operations. The responsibility of carrying out major attacks against the security forces was on the shoulders of Hidma.

Reward of one crore rupees was announced

Hidma had planned at least 26 such major attacks, in which a large number of security forces had to lose their soldiers. This also includes the Dantewala massacre that took place in 2010, in which 76 CRPF soldiers were martyred. Apart from this, the Jheeram Valley attack in 2013 was also the brainchild of Hidma, in which 27 people lost their lives. In the year 2021, 22 soldiers were martyred in Sukma-Bijapur.

For this reason, a reward of one crore rupees was kept on him. Apart from this, as a top commander and member of the Central Committee, Hidma also had the responsibility of holding secret meetings. In these meetings, levy collection, availability of weapons and loss and profit of the entire year were reviewed. During this time, new responsibilities were assigned to the lower cadres, so that the activities of the organization could be further strengthened.

PLGA week event

Apart from all this, People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week was celebrated every year from 2 to 8 December. In this, those members of PLGA who were killed during attacks against security forces were remembered. Apart from this, the annual accounts of the organization were released during this week. Obviously Hidma had an important role in this too.

Under the leadership of Hidma, who was the most notorious face of Naxalite violence in the last two decades, the future strategy for attacks on security forces was made during this week. Now with the killing of Hidma, it is expected that the Maoist network has suffered the biggest blow. His death will not only weaken PLGA Battalion No. 1, but the entire structure of Maoists in Dandakaranya Special Zone and South Bastar will also be shaken.
