Story of Ravana’s previous birth
Ravan Purva Janam Story: Ravana was killed by Lord Shri Ram in Treta Yuga. Ravana was the king of Lanka and the biggest devotee of Lord Shiva. He had conquered all the three worlds, that is why he was called Trilok Vijeta. Ravana was very knowledgeable, but according to religious scriptures, Ravana was not a demon in his previous birth. According to religious scriptures and beliefs, let us know who Ravana was in his previous birth and how did he get the demon form?
According to mythology and beliefs, Lord Vishnu had two gatekeepers. The name of one was Jai and the name of the other was Vijay. Both of them always stood at the gate of Vaikuntha. Once Sankadi Muni came to see Shri Hari Vishnu, but Jai-Vijay stopped him. Due to this, Sankadi Muni became angry and cursed both of them to be born in the form of a demon.
This is how I got the demon form for three births.
At the same time, Vishnu came there and prayed to the sage to forgive Jai-Vijay and free him from the curse. Then the sage said to Shri Hari that because of these two, I have been delayed for three moments in seeing you, hence both of them will remain in the form of a demon for three births. The sage also said that both of them will end up in all three births at the hands of Lord Vishnu.
All three times he met his end at the hands of Shri Hari.
After this, Jai-Vijay came to the mortal world in their first birth as Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyapu. Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyaksha by taking the incarnation of Varaha. After this, he took the form of Narasimha and killed Hiranyakashipu. After this, Jai and Vijay in their second birth became demons named Ravana-Kumbhakaran in Treta Yuga. At that time Lord Vishnu in the incarnation of Shri Ram killed both of them.
Finally, in Dwapar Yuga, Jai and Vijay were born as Dant and Shishupala. It is said that both Shishupala and Dantavakra were the sons of Lord Krishna’s aunt. Due to their evils, in this era they were ended by Shri Krishna, the incarnation of Shri Hari.
