Champawat stood first in the review of 26-point program of Uttarakhand. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan gave instructions to accelerate development schemes and public welfare works.
Dehradun. A high-level meeting was held in the Secretariat Auditorium to review the monthly progress report for May 2026 of the 26-point program of the Uttarakhand government. The meeting was presided over by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During this, senior officers of the Secretariat were physically present, while District Magistrates, Chief Development Officers and concerned officers of all the districts participated in the meeting through virtual medium.
The Chief Secretary said that the aim of the state government is to ensure effective implementation of public welfare schemes and to extend their benefits to the last person of the society. He directed the officials to ensure regular review of the schemes, better coordination and maintain constant communication with the stakeholders.
Instructions to increase the progress of government schemes
In the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that immediate corrective steps should be taken in areas where expected progress is not being made. He asked all the districts to adopt target based methodology and pay special attention to effective implementation of schemes. He also instructed the officials to strengthen the monitoring of development schemes and establish better coordination between the departments.
Champawat Top Performer: Champawat achieved first place
According to the progress report of May 2026, Champawat district secured first position in the state by securing 65.94 percent marks. Haridwar stood second with 59.30 percent marks and Pithoragarh stood third with 57.87 percent marks. Apart from this, Dehradun performed satisfactorily by scoring 56.65 percent, Rudraprayag 56.44 percent and Chamoli 54.12 percent. The Chief Secretary also advised other districts to learn from the innovations and working style of the excellent performing districts.
Big success in encroachment removal and digital governance
It was told in the review meeting that the municipal bodies of the state have achieved 98.20 percent success in the campaign to remove encroachments. It was described as an important example of administrative efficiency and effective functioning. In order to strengthen digital governance, geo-tagging work of 97.02 percent government properties of the state has been completed. At the same time, the rate of disposal of complaints received on “Apni Sarkar” portal has been recorded at 82.68 percent, which is an indication of improvement in citizen services.
Progress also in parking projects and sewage management
It was informed in the meeting that the efficiency of sewage treatment plants in the state has reached 89.47 percent. Along with this, work is going on on 133 parking projects in the state, whose average physical progress has been recorded at 67.33 percent. With the completion of these projects, it was expected that urban facilities and traffic management would improve.
Revenue, tourism and urban development works will get more momentum
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed to increase the pace of work in important areas like revenue collection, industrial development, river conservation, tourism, drinking water, urban development and waste management. He said that by regular monitoring, departmental coordination and adopting target based methodology at the local level, better results can be achieved in the coming months.
Officials told in the meeting that the Urban Development and Panchayati Raj Department is working towards increasing the revenue capacity of local bodies. District wise targets are being set for food security schemes. The Revenue Department will organize dialogue programs at the district level, while the Forest Department is taking forward the process of setting the necessary targets and budget for the tree plantation programmes.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Dilip Jawalkar, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Chandresh Yadav, D.S. Gabriel, S.N. Many senior officials including Pandey were present.
