Lucknow coaching center fire tragedy left a love story incomplete. The death of Nilesh Kumar and Anamika Samant before their scheduled marriage raised many questions, while 15 lives were extinguished in a single fire.
Lucknow: Career climbing the stairs of progress, happiness of engagement on his face and beautiful dreams of tomorrow coming in his eyes – the life of 27 year old Nilesh Kumar was moving in its most beautiful direction. But who knew that the building in which he had laid the foundation of his golden future would one day become a waste of time. The massive fire that broke out in a major coaching center in Aliganj not only took away 15 innocent lives, but also silenced two hearts forever, which were going to be married in a few days. This accident has brought a painful end to the love story of Nilesh and his fiancee, 30-year-old Anamika Samant, which has left two families from Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal in deep shock.
Beginning of love and preparation for seven rounds: When families from two states met
Nilesh and Anamika met while working in this coaching centre. While working together, they fell in love and decided to spend their entire lives together. Everything was going according to plan between the two. Just last week, Anamika’s parents had specially come to Lucknow from West Bengal, so that the wedding formalities could be carried forward.

Nilesh’s family was preparing to go to Anamika’s house in West Bengal.
With tears in his eyes outside the post-mortem house, Nilesh’s brother Abhishek said: “Anamika and Nilesh got engaged (roka) just a few days ago. We had a small and very intimate ceremony at our house. Anamika was a very happy and vivacious girl. After that ceremony, we all were just busy celebrating the wedding preparations.” Family members told that the marriage was fixed for next year. Nilesh’s family had also booked train tickets to go to Anamika’s ancestral home in West Bengal next week. But see the irony, on the date when he was to go to Samadhiyana, now there is only mourning all around.
Unseen warnings and golden dreams turning to ashes
Nilesh, the second among three siblings, was known in his family as a very hardworking and responsible son. This year he got a great promotion and salary hike in his job. According to relatives, Nilesh wanted to be completely financially independent before his marriage. He was building a new house for the family with his savings and his wish was that when the new house was ready next year, he would get Anamika married in the same house.
Questions raised on security arrangements of coaching institutes
The massive fire that broke out on Monday not only separated the couple but also destroyed the hopes of 13 other students and staff along with them. This incident once again raises serious questions over the security arrangements of coaching hubs across the country, where common citizens have to pay the price of ignored warnings and lax civil rules with their lives. The building which was once a source of nurturing the dreams of the youth, has today turned into a scary ruin.
