Air India Cancels AI103 And AI104 Flights After Midway Glitch In Vienna

An Air India flight (AI103) from Delhi to Washington, DC was grounded in Vienna, Austria, on July 2, 2025, after a technical issue was discovered during a scheduled fuel stop.

The problem was identified during routine ground checks and was serious enough to require immediate attention. However, due to the complexity of the issue and the time required for repairs, the airline cancelled the onward journey as a precautionary measure.

All passengers were safely deboarded at Vienna International Airport, and no injuries were reported. Air India promptly issued a statement confirming that the technical issue could not be resolved on-site in a timely manner and that the safety of passengers remained the top priority.

The airline added that it is working to make necessary arrangements for all affected passengers. These include rebooking options on alternative flights to their destinations or providing full refunds, depending on individual preferences. Assistance was also extended at the airport to ensure passengers were accommodated and informed.

The aircraft will stay grounded in Vienna until the required maintenance work is completed and safety approvals are obtained.

As a result of this disruption, the return flight AI104 from Washington, DC to Delhi, which was also scheduled to stop in Vienna, has been cancelled. Air India confirmed that passengers booked on this leg are being offered similar alternatives, including rebooking on other available flights or full refunds.

The airline has apologized for the inconvenience and assured that it is coordinating closely with ground staff in Vienna to minimize passenger discomfort and resume normal operations as soon as possible. Travelers are advised to check the Air India website or contact the airline’s support team for the latest updates regarding their flight status.
