PK failed in ‘System Change’: Took 100% responsibility for the defeat, will atone by silent fast for 2 days

After the defeat in Bihar elections 2025, Prashant Kishore took 100% responsibility and apologized. He announced a one-day silent fast for atonement. Jan Suraj got 3.5% votes and 98% candidates’ deposits were forfeited.

Four days after the Jan Suraj Party suffered a crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, party founder Prashant Kishore (PK) today addressed a press conference at the Jan Suraj Camp in Patliputra Golambar, Patna. Prashant Kishor took 100 percent responsibility for his party’s defeat and apologized for failing to change the system.

100% responsibility for defeat and acceptance of mistake

Initiating the discussion, Prashant Kishor said that the party which got only 3.5 percent votes, that so many media persons came, is a big thing in itself. He admitted that his efforts were honest, but did not succeed. PK said, “We made honest efforts in Bihar, but did not succeed. Leave alone the change in the system, we could not even bring about a change in power. We must have made some mistake due to which the public did not trust us.”

Prashant Kishore humbly said that he takes 100 percent responsibility for the defeat on himself. He further said, “We have collectively lost and we will make further strategies. The entire fault of not living up to everyone’s hopes and dreams is mine. I apologize to all of you.”

Deposits confiscated on 98 percent seats

Jan Suraj Party had fielded its candidates on 238 out of 243 seats in the Assembly. In which the deposits of 233 candidates i.e. about 98 percent of the candidates were confiscated. The party could not save the deposit even on 7 seats of Rohtas district (PK’s home district). His party’s deposit was also forfeited in his own assembly, Karghar. Prashant Kishor admitted that Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM (5 seats) and BSP (1 seat) performed better than Jan Suraj, which raises questions on his political strategy.

silent fast for penance

After accepting defeat, Prashant Kishore has announced to fast as penance. He said, “Two days from today, I will observe a one-day silent fast at Bhitharwa Ashram. I will observe a one-day fast as atonement.”

He appealed to the party workers who want to atone for this mistake, to observe a mass fast from wherever they are. He said, “We may have made mistakes, but we have not committed any crime.”

New responsibility on NDA

PK congratulated the NDA alliance that won the elections and entrusted them with new responsibilities. He said that now there is accountability on Nitish ji and the entire NDA. He described the issue of migration as the biggest and said that now the issue of employment and migration should be his priority.
