CM Yogi Adityanath, while inspecting the construction of UP SSF II Corps in Gorakhpur, directed to speed up the work and prepare the necessary buildings by June 2026. The hi-tech complex being built at a cost of Rs 343 crore will meet the security and administrative needs.
Gorakhpur. On Monday evening, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted on-site inspection of the construction work of the Second Corps of Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UP SSF) in Gorakhpur. He directed the officials of the Public Works Department to speed up the construction while maintaining the quality of work. CM Yogi said that work gets affected due to rain after June, hence try to complete the construction four months before the target period of October 2026.
Detailed inspection of the model and construction site
During the inspection, the Chief Minister first saw the model of the SSF building, then went to the construction site and took information about all the arrangements and progress. Officials said that the total strength of SSF II Corps will be 1000 personnel. So far 10% physical progress has been made in the construction work and about 500 laborers are working. Officials said that all the work will be completed by October 31, 2026. On this, the Chief Minister stressed on completing this target by June 2026 and gave instructions to speed up the work by increasing machinery.
DM ordered to take immediate action on soil shortage
Lack of soil at the construction site was said to be a major challenge. Officials said that due to the area being low-lying, soil is not available for filling. On this, the Chief Minister called DM Deepak Meena and directed that soil should be made available immediately by dredging the nearby drains and rivers. He also said that the maximum flood level must be checked before final filling.
Order to build pumping station to prevent waterlogging
Keeping in mind the problem of waterlogging due to low lying land of Tal Jahda area, the Chief Minister said that a pumping station should be built near the regulator on Maniram embankment. MLAs of Pipraich, Gorakhpur Rural and Sahjanwa, senior officials of administration, police and PWD were present during the inspection.
Second battalion of SSF is being built in 50 hectare area at a cost of Rs 343 crore.
Residential and non-residential buildings are being constructed for the second battalion of SSF in Tal Jahda area of Gorakhpur in an area of 50.157 hectares at a cost of approximately Rs 343 crore. The government has sanctioned more than Rs 186 crore 33 lakh for residential buildings and Rs 156 crore 39 lakh for non-residential buildings. The construction work is being done by the Public Works Department (PWD).
The new SSF campus will be equipped with modern and hi-tech facilities
The building of SSF II Corps will be equipped with modern and hi-tech facilities. The following facilities are being created in the campus-
- Type-A and Type-B (G+13) multi-storey buildings with lifts
- Type-4 and Type-5 residential buildings
- Administrative building with lift (G+4)
- quarter guard, parking, sentry post
- Hospital, Indoor Gym, Dog Kennel
- 400 capacity barrack
- Grand Parade Ground and Salute Stage
- Rain Water Harvesting System
Construction began on 21 June 2024. Towers A and B are targeted to be completed by March 30, 2027.
Brief history of formation of UP SSF
In September 2020, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced the setting up of UP SSF to protect courts, religious places and important establishments. The first five corps were raised in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Mathura and Saharanpur in June 2021. After this, the sixth corps was formed to protect the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya. At present, SSF II Corps of Gorakhpur is handling the security of Gorakhpur and Kushinagar airports and is currently functioning from the PAC campus.
Two kilometer long approach road is being built till SSF building
Yogi government is also building a two kilometer long approach road to SSF Bhawan. Rs 23.73 crore is being spent on this road. Its construction started from 18 March 2025 by Construction Block-3 of PWD, of which 30% physical progress has been completed. This approach road is expected to be ready by March 2026.
