People living in this valley usually live more than 100 years and surprisingly, serious diseases like cancer are very rare in this place. Situated at an altitude of about 2,438 meters, clean air, home-made food and healthy lifestyle give people a long and healthy life in this area. Residents here are generally in good physical health most of the time and their diet is entirely plant-based, i.e. fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dry fruits. Meat is consumed very rarely and only in winter.
Is tea becoming a lifesaver?
A special feature of Hunza Valley is the traditional herbal tea here, which is called ‘Hunza Tea’. Made from basil, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and jaggery, this tea is rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is considered helpful in increasing immunity, improving digestion, reducing weight and controlling blood pressure.

The lifestyle of the people here is also amazing. Due to living in a difficult geographical area, they walk long distances every day, which keeps their heart health better. According to a study, in a survey of 425 people, only 47 people were found to smoke and obesity was also very less. Experts believe that not everyone can live in Hunza Valley, but by adopting their lifestyle, steps can be taken towards prevention of diseases and longer life.
