The tri-series is to be played in Pakistan from 18th November. Apart from Pakistan, teams from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will participate in this series. Before this series, the Sri Lankan cricket team has suffered a big setback. Two star players of Sri Lanka have suddenly left Pakistan, a big reason behind which has come to light. Earlier, an ODI series was also played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, then due to security concerns after the deadly suicide attack in Islamabad, many players of the Sri Lankan team wanted to return home, but the PCB assured them of tight security, after which the visiting team decided to stay there.
Sri Lanka’s two star players out
Just before the T20 tri-series, the Sri Lankan cricket team has suffered a big setback. Team captain Charith Asalanka and fast bowler Asith Fernando have returned home due to illness and will not participate in this tournament. Two senior players have returned due to illness. Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) confirmed this by issuing an official statement. The board said that both the players have been called back to Sri Lanka for complete recovery so that they can get rest before the BG International schedule.
In the absence of Asalanka, former captain Dasun Shanaka has been given the command of the team for the tri-series. In place of Asith Fernando, young fast bowler Pawan Ratnayake has been included in the Sri Lankan T20 squad. In this series, Sri Lanka will play its first match against Zimbabwe on 20 November at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. After this, it will face Pakistan on 22nd November. Then on November 25, Sri Lanka will once again face Zimbabwe. At the same time, it will play against Pakistan on 27th November. After this the final match will be played on 29th November.
