New Delhi: Olympian Gurpreet Singh bagged the silver medal in the men’s 25m Centre Fire Pistol event at the ISSF World Championships 2025 on Monday, November 17. Gurpreet shot 288-8x (95,97,96) in the precision stage and scored 296-10x (98,99,99) in the rapid stage to grab the second spot on the podium.
Ukraine’s Pavlo Korostylov won the elusive gold medal, while Yann Pierre Louis Fridrici of France bagged the bronze medal in the men’s 25m Centre Fire Pistol event. Gurpreet bagged his second medal at the ISSF World Championships, having won a silver medal in the 25m Standard Pistol event at the 2018 edition of the tournament.
Sahil Chaudhary, who was the other Indian in the fray in the men’s 25m Centre Fire Pistol event, failed to win a medal as he finished 28th with a total score of 561-14x (Precision – 272-4x, Rapid – 289 – 10x). Meanwhile, another Indian, Harpreet Singh, came close to winning a medal with a score of 291-10x in the precision stage, which saw him grab the second spot. However, he finished 9th after scoring 286-6x in the rapid stage.
India finish 3rd on medals table in ISSF World Championships 2025
Thanks to Gurpreet’s silver in the men’s 25m centre fire pistol event on Sunday, India finished with a total of 13 medals, including three gold medals, to take the third spot in the ISSF World Championships 2025 medals table. India won three gold, six silver and four bronze medals in the competition.
They finished behind China and South Korea. China grabbed the top spot with a total of 21 medals, including 12 gold. South Korea finished second with a total of 14 medals, including seven gold. It was a mixed campaign for India as big names like Manu Bhaker and Sift Kaur Samra disappointed at the event.
Samrat Rana won India’s first gold medal in the ISSF World Championships 2025 by grabbing the top spot on the podium in the 10m air pistol event. Ravinder Sing clinched gold medals in men’s 50m standard pistol and men’s 10m air pistol team events.
