After the defeat in Bihar elections 2025, RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari has attacked Lalu-Tejashwi. He accused Lalu of becoming ‘Dhritarashtra’ out of love for his son and Tejashwi of dreaming of becoming CM by staying away from the struggle. Tiwari gave this reason for his expulsion.
After the crushing defeat of the Rashtriya Democratic Party (RJD) in the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the ‘earthquake’ going on within the party has now taken an explosive form. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s old associate and senior party leader Shivanand Tiwari has taken a sharp dig at both Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav by sharing a long and emotional post on his Facebook wall. In this post, Shivanand Tiwari has raised questions on the ambitions of Lalu family while giving the reason for his political expulsion.
Lalu’s small ambition and ‘Dhritarashtra’ taunt
Shivanand Tiwari started his post with a story from the days of the Bihar movement, when he and Lalu Yadav were locked in the same room of Phulwari Sharif jail. Tiwari wrote that Lalu Yadav was a big face of that movement, but his aspirations were very small. At night Lalu had told him: “Baba, I want to become a leader like Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav.”
Tiwari taunted, “It seems that sometimes God above hears it.” He further added that today Lalu Yadav’s wish has been fulfilled as “the entire family pushed,” but only twenty-five MLAs of his party won. Tiwari took a direct dig at Lalu Yadav and said, “Lalu Yadav was warming the throne for his son like Dhritarashtra.”
‘Dreamland’ and the pain of eviction
Shivanand Tiwari revealed why he was removed from the post of National Vice President of RJD and why he was not given a place in the executive. He said that this question could arise in his mind, even though he himself was the National Vice President of the party.
Tiwari said that he opposed Tejashwi Yadav’s ‘vision’ because he was saying that “the intensive re-verification of voter list is a conspiracy against democracy. Take to the streets with Rahul Gandhi against it. Fight. Get beaten by the police. Go to jail.” But instead of struggling, Tejashwi Yadav was “taking oath as Chief Minister in a dream world.” Tiwari said that he was disturbing Tejashwi’s dreams by shaking him, that is why he was removed.
Shivanand Tiwari ended the post by saying that he is now free from the political stranglehold of the Lalu family. He said, “Now I am free. I have got leisure. Now I will keep telling stories.” This open rebellion by senior RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari has proved that after the crushing defeat in the elections, the internal conflict of RJD has now become a major threat to the existence of the party.
