Punjab Police busts Pakistan-linked narco-arms ring: 5 arrested, heroin & pistols seized

Chandigarh: Punjab Police have arrested five individuals and seized six sophisticated pistols along with over one kilogram of heroin, effectively busting a Pakistan-linked arms and narcotics network, officials said on Sunday.

According to police, the accused were allegedly in touch with Pakistan-based handlers through social media and drones to facilitate the movement of weapons and drugs into Punjab.

Five people arrested with possessions

“Acting on intelligence inputs, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a Pakistan-linked arms and narco network, arresting five persons and recovering six pistols, five .30 bore and one Glock 9 mm, along with 1.10 kg of heroin,” DGP Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.

Pakistan-based handlers coordinated using drones and internet

He added that the preliminary probe confirms the role of Pakistan-based handlers, who coordinated deliveries using digital communication and drone routes.

Two FIRs have been registered under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act at Chheharta and Amritsar Cantonment police stations. An investigation is ongoing to identify the handlers and completely disrupt the network, the DGP said.
