The famous Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case in Bhojpur district of Bihar has taken a new turn. Now an FIR has been registered in this case against the policemen who opened fire. Based on the complaint of Bharat Tiwari’s mother Asha Devi, a case has been registered in Shahpur police station, due to which questions have once again been raised regarding the entire matter.
Bhojpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj confirmed this on June 23. The names of Jagdishpur sub-divisional police officer, the then Shahpur police station chief and other concerned policemen have been included in the FIR. Earlier, five policemen have also been suspended in this case.
Mother made serious allegations
Asha Devi has alleged in her application that her son Bharat Bhushan Tiwari was continuously raising his voice regarding the problems of flood affected and displaced people. On the day of the incident, the police team reached his house and asked Bharat to come with them.
According to the complaint, Bharat had thrown away the weapon he was carrying during the Facebook Live and surrendered before the police. Despite this, the policemen caught him, threw him on the ground and shot him several times. Asha Devi claims that her son was hit by five bullets.
‘Bullets fired on orders’
It has also been alleged in the application that the firing was done on the instructions of Jagdishpur Deputy Superintendent of Police. The family says that after the incident, they were not given correct information for several hours and only later they got information about Bharat’s death.
Based on these allegations, a formal FIR has now been registered against the policemen. As the investigation of the case progresses, many important facts are likely to come to light.
Five policemen have already been suspended
So far, action has been taken against five policemen in this case. The suspended officers include the then Shahpur police station in-charge Rajesh Kumar Malakar, sub-inspector Ankit Aryan, sub-inspector Harschandra Kumar, assistant sub-inspector Ramashankar Yadav and lady constable Meera Kumari.
