Bengaluru: “I know Kannada. I understand it… only speaking is tough. Do one thing – keep me here itself!” This was the witty response of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav when media persons asked whether he still remembers Kannada.
Akhilesh Yadav, who was in Bengaluru on Saturday, met Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwara in what was described as a cordial interaction. When reporters asked if he remembered Kannada, he recalled his student days in the city and said, “I studied here. I knew Parameshwara even then – he was a Dalit leader. That’s why I came to meet him. I know Kannada. Tell me anything; I can understand it. Only speaking is difficult. Keep me here for some time, I’ll learn!” he said humorously.
Responding to another question about what Bengaluru reminds him of, he said: “I landed at the airport today. Back when I studied here, an auto ride to Majestic Circle used to take just 45 minutes. Now the city has grown so much. It has become a big metropolis,” he recalled
