A few days ago, the AIIMS administration had stopped the patient care allowance of employees involved in non-medical work. This included disabled employees posted in different departments of AIIMS. AIIMS Disabled Federation had opposed this decision of AIIMS administration and appealed to withdraw the decision. However, this order was not withdrawn. In such a situation, the Federation had appealed to the Supreme Court. Now in this matter the Supreme Court has sought a reply from AIIMS within four weeks.

President of Disabled Federation of AIIMS, Santdev Chauhan Thakur said that earlier all the people involved in non-medical work in AIIMS used to get Patient Care Allowance. But it has been closed. Stopping the special allowance may cause trouble in future. In such a situation, now the Supreme Court has sought a reply. Santdev told that he has also written a letter to the AIIMS Director in this regard and has appealed to reinstate the allowance. But at present no reply has come.

AIIMS said only these employees will get allowance

Santdev says that the people to whom this allowance has been stopped are also involved in the care of patients. This allowance is given considering the health risk and risk of infection, hence all eligible employees should be included. But now AIIMS is not doing this, whereas it should not be decided by the department or post, but by the nature of the work, who should get the allowance. But the AIIMS order states that this facility will not be provided to any other employees and officers except medical staff like nurses or doctors.

What is patient care allowance?

Patient care allowance is given to employees working in government hospitals. This is given because employees who come in contact with patients are at risk of infection. Working hours also increase sometimes. Based on this logic, AIIMS administration says that allowance will not be given to non-medical employees. After which the Supreme Court has sought a reply from AIIMS.
