Ravindra Jadeja was on fire in the first Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After going wicketless in the first innings, he made full use of the spin-friendly conditions on Day 3 as he ran through the South Africa top order.
Kuldeep Yadav got the first wicket of Ryan Rickelton, but it was all Ravindra Jadeja after it. He broke the spine of Proteas’ batting by picking five back-to-back wickets to leave South Africa in massive trouble. He got the wickets of Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Temba Bavuma, Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs.
The magnificent spell helped Jadeja script history in the World Test Championship (WTC). Jadeja became the first player in the world to complete a double of 150 wickets and 2500 runs in the WTC. Jadeja has 2532 runs and 150 wickets to his name in 47 WTC matches. The southpaw also became the fourth player to pick 250 wickets in India.

Meanwhile, Jadeja achieved a unique feat and became the second player after Stuart Broad in England to complete a double of 2000+ runs and 250+ wickets in a country. He also became the fourth cricketer to score 4,000 runs and take 300+ wickets in Test cricket. Jadeja achieved the feat in 88 games, which is the second-best in terms of matches taken to reach the milestone.
