IPL 2026 Retention: Full List of Released Players by All Ten Teams ahead of Mini Auction

The ten teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have announced their retentions ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction, set to take place next month.

There have been some big-name departures, who have been offloaded by their teams and will now enter the auction. All ten teams announced their retention list on Saturday (November 15), who will stay with the team for the IPL 2026 season.

IPL 2026 Retention List – Franchises Release Big Names

Kolkata Knight Riders have released the most expensive player among the released list, as they have let go of Venkatesh Iyer, who cost them Rs 23.75 crore. Apart from that, KKR have also released the likes of Spencer Johnson, Anrich Nortje. But the biggest name to depart for the Knights is Andre Russell, who will be heading to the auction after 12 years.

The defending IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have offloaded Liam Livingstone, while young Indian pacer Rasikh Dar has also been discarded. Chennai Super Kings brought in Sanju Samson via trade deal, but have released Matheesha Pathirana.

Punjab Kings have been minimal with their releases this season, but Australian veteran Glenn Maxwell will be heading to the auction after an underwhelming IPL 2025 season. Elsewhere, Lucknow Super Giants are leaving out Akash Deep, Ravi Bishnoi from their squad, whereas Gujarat Titans have released five players.

Rajasthan Royals lost their captain Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings, but have brought in Ravindra Jadeja as part of the trade deal. Elsewhere, the Mumbai Indians have snapped up three players via trade, roping in Shardul Thakur (from LSG), Sherfane Rutherford (from GT) and Mayank Markande (from KKR).

Interestingly, all the released players can avoid the auction if they can seal a deal with one of the other nine teams before the mini auction.
