Punjab Kings Release Update, IPL 2026 Retention: Punjab Kings have come into action mode before the IPL 2026 mini auction. On November 15, all IPL teams have to release the retention list by retaining and releasing their respective players. Before that, Punjab has shown the way out to three-four players including Glenn Maxwell. Before the release, there were speculations about Maxwell that he would have to be out. His last season was very bad and he was out due to injury in the middle. Along with him, Aaron Hardy, Kuldeep Sen and Vishnu Vinod have also been dropped.
Maxwell could not even score 50 runs last season
The worst year for Glenn Maxwell in the history of IPL has been the last season, where he did not even complete the 50-run mark. Punjab Kings team gave him a chance to play seven times, but he could score only 48 runs. After his poor performance, continuous criticism started pouring in on social media. Not only this, his form was going bad and on top of that he got injured in his finger, due to which he was out of the tournament. After his exit, another bowler from Australia, all-rounder Mitchell Owen, was included. However, despite that, the Punjab team definitely reached the finals, but could not win the trophy.

Now the team has dropped him without playing any match and a plan is being made to replace him with a new player. Apart from Hardy, two Indian players have also been dropped.
Kuldeep and Vishnu Vinod also out
Apart from the two Australians, two Indian players have also been released by Punjab Kings. The names of fast bowler Kuldeep Sen and wicketkeeper and batsman Vishnu Vinod are included in the list. Both are young players, who have not played international cricket till date. Apart from Kuldeep, Vishnu also could not play a single match in the entire season tournament. Due to the balanced playing eleven of the team, both the players did not get a chance to play and now they have been dropped before IPL 2026. The Punjab team would like to fill these vacant places in the auction to be held in Abu Dhabi on 16th December.
