The Supreme Court, while giving relief to the Car Ownes of Delhi-NCR, ordered that there will be no coercive action on 10-year-old Diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles. A new debate over the pollution control erupted.
Delhi ncr vehicle ban: There has been a big relief from the Supreme Court for the car owners of Delhi and National Capital Region. The court has clearly stated that no strict action will be taken against the diesel vehicle older than 10 years and the owners of petrol vehicles older than 15 years old. In fact, in view of pollution in Delhi, 10 -year -old diesel vehicles and 15 -year -old petrol vehicles were banned.
Ban on CAQM’s order
In fact, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had issued an order in July that fuel supply for vehicles coming to the end of life category would be closed and they would be scored. This order was based on the Supreme Court’s decision of 2018. However, it was postponed by 1 November after the intervention of the Delhi government.
After mentioning the petition by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, a bench of Chief Justice BR Gawai, Justice of Justice and Justice NV Anjania ordered that at present, no action would be taken against the owners of 10 -year -old diesel and 15 -year -old petrol vehicles based on their age. The court also issued notice to the Center and CAQM, which has been sought in four weeks.
Delhi government’s stand
Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that there is a difference of land-sky between 2018 and 2025. Now modern technology exists. If a vehicle is spreading pollution, whether it is 5 years old or 15 years, it should be stopped. Pollution should be the basis, not age.
