Red Fort Blast Key Points: The investigation into the massive blast that took place near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10 has exposed a fearsome web of terror networks spanning Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Kashmir. As agencies are examining CCTV footage, encrypted chats and forensic evidence, several elements of a white-collar terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are becoming clear. How a group of doctors hatched a terrorist conspiracy to terrorize the country and made Al-Falah University in Faridabad their base. It has been revealed that all these terrorists were also in contact with a handler in Turkey. Let us know what has happened so far in the investigation of Red Fort car blast.

1- Where did the conspiracy start?

The conspiracy was hatched inside Faridabad’s Al-Falah University. 2,900 kg of explosives were recovered from its premises and surrounding areas. Three Kashmiri doctors Omar Un Nabi, Dr. Muzammil Ahmed Ghani and Dr. Rather were its masterminds. He had collected a small amount of ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and sulfur before making an improvised explosive device (IED). Rooms were rented for storing explosives.

2- ‘White collar terrorists’: Doctors lead module

Umar Nabi, the 28-year-old doctor who was driving the explosives-laden Hyundai i20, was a resident of Qazigund in Kashmir. Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Muzaffar Rather were his close associates. Another Dr. Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow has also been arrested. All of them used Telegram to co-ordinate. Police have sought an Interpol Red Corner notice for Muzaffar, who fled India in August. He is believed to be in Afghanistan.

3- Turkiye Connection: ‘Ukasa’ Link

Investigators traced a handler to Turkiye, codenamed Ukasa. He reportedly acted as a mediator between Delhi-based doctors and leaders of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Dr. Omar and his colleagues went to Turkey in 2021-22, where they received training. Ukasa had asked him to create a secret cell.

4- Mosque Connection

CCTV footage of the last hours shows that Umar entered Delhi from Badarpur border after leaving Faridabad. The night before this, he had also gone to Firozpur Jhirka in Mewat. After reaching Delhi, he also went to a mosque near Asaf Ali Road. Later he also roamed around in Connaught Place, Ashok Vihar. Shortly before the blast, he had also stayed for a long time at the Sunehri Masjid near the Red Fort. Only after this he blew up the car at 6:52 pm.

5- ‘Diaries found from room number 13’

Investigators found some diaries from room number 13 and 4 of Al-Falah University, which belonged to Muzammil and Omar. These included dates between 8 and 12 November and names with codes. There is also repeated mention of the word “operation”. Police believe that these diaries contained the outline of the operation.

6- Deposited Rs 26 lakh

The suspects deposited over Rs 26 lakh in cash, which Dr Omar managed for the operation. This fund was used to purchase 26 quintals of NPK fertilizer from dealers in Gurugram and Nuh. This fertilizer, when mixed with other chemicals, acts like an explosive. A total of 2900 kg of explosives were seized in Faridabad. Officials also suspect additional funding from abroad.

7- Planning of blast in four big cities

The terrorist module had planned simultaneous blasts in four cities. The eight suspects were to be divided into pairs. Each was assigned a city. It is believed that apart from Delhi, their targets also included Ayodhya and Varanasi. Each terrorist pair was required to travel with multiple IEDs for the attacks, which reflects the strategy used by Jaish in its terror operations.

8- Connection to the anniversary of Babri demolition

The terrorist module in its notes has written about December 6 as “Operation D-6”. Investigators believe that this in a way points towards planning to carry out blasts on the anniversary of Babri demolition. Some reports also claim that the module had prepared a plan for 32 vehicles equipped with explosives. However, when Umar was assembling or activating the IED inside the car, it accidentally exploded.
