Tilak Varma’s Indian side will be facing off against visiting South Africa ‘A’ team in a three-match 50-over series with the first game at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Friday.
India ‘A’ and South Africa ‘A’ drew the two-match four-day ‘Tests’ 1-1 with the Proteas chasing down 417 in the second game in Bengaluru earlier this month.Apart from Tilak, India ‘A’ will feature top Indian stars like world No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma, Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Jharkhand wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan apart from Riyan Parag and Prabhsimran Singh. Indians will also be bolstered by addition of all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who will join the squad after being released for India’s first Test vs South Africa beginning at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.

The home side also has a powerful bowling attack led by Arshdeep Singh, who was in fine form in the T20I series vs Australia recently. Arshdeep will be backed up by the likes of Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna and spinners like Manav Suthar and Vipraj Nigam.

South African side will be led by captain Marques Ackerman, who scored a brilliant century in the second India ‘A’ vs South Africa ‘A’ four-day match in the first innings. The explosive Lhuan-dre Pretorius from Rajasthan Royals will be expected to open the innings while bowling will be handled by the likes of Kwena Maphaka, Ottneil Baartman and left-arm spinner Bjorn Fortuin.
