Utpanna Ekadashi fasting story: Utpanna Ekadashi fast is observed in the month of Margashirsha. This day and fast is dedicated to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world. Utpanna Ekadashi falls on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha month. On this day, Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi are worshiped with rituals. Devi Ekadashi was born on this day. He is also worshiped on this day.
According to Hindu beliefs, fasting and worshiping on the day of Utpanna Ekadashi removes all the sorrows of life. Happiness and prosperity come in life. By fasting and worshiping on this day, all the sins of life are destroyed. On this day, puja is not considered complete without reading the fast story. Utpana Ekadashi fasting story
According to mythology, in Satyayuga there was a terrible demon named Mur. Mur’s was quite powerful. He had won over gods like Indra etc. Along with this, he had also taken control over Indralok. The gods were troubled by the atrocities of Mur. Finally he reached Lord Shiva and asked for his help, but Mahadev asked the gods to take refuge in Lord Vishnu.
After this the gods requested Shri Hari. Lord Vishnu listened to the request of the gods and decided to kill Mur. After this, Lord Vishnu along with the gods reached a city called Chandravati. It was here that Mur used to rule. Then a fierce war broke out between Lord Vishnu and Mur. The war continued for a long time. Seeing that there was no end to the war, the Lord left the war and went to rest in the Hemvati cave of Badrikashram.
While chasing Lord Vishnu, the demon Mur also reached that cave. Seeing Lord Vishnu resting, Mur tried to attack him. At the same time a bright and powerful girl appeared from the divine body of Lord Vishnu. He cut off the head of the peacock. When Lord Vishnu woke up from rest, he saw Mur dead and was pleased with the bravery of the girl. After this he gave a boon to the girl.
Lord Vishnu said that you were born on Ekadashi date, hence you will be known in the whole world by the name Ekadashi. You will be worshiped in every era. How happy I will be with Ekadashi fast. That much will not happen through any other worship. Those who observe your fast will attain salvation.
