What is NIA?

NIA has the legal authority to conduct raids and arrest anywhere across the country. This is what makes it different from other investigating agencies.

How to become an assistant in NIA?

There are two main paths to become an officer in NIA-

Through SSC CGL: Graduate candidates can become eligible for posts like Sub Inspector (SI) by clearing SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam.

Through UPSC: If you get into services like IPS or IRS through UPSC, then you can be appointed as an officer in NIA.

Apart from this, candidates who are already working in any other security agency can also join NIA through transfer or application.

How to get job in NIA through SSC CGL?

SSC CGL exam is conducted in four stages-

  • Tier 1- Prelims
  • Tier 2- Mains
  • Tier 3- Descriptive Exam
  • Tier 4- Computer Based Skill Test

After passing all these stages, candidates have to appear for physical test and interview. After its successful completion, they are given training in NIA and then get posting.

How much salary does an NIA officer get?

Salary varies according to post and responsibility in NIA. For example, the starting salary of a Sub Inspector is around Rs 56,100 per month. Apart from this, many allowances like DA, HRA, TA are also available. As the rank increases, the salary and facilities of senior officers increase further.
