DNA test confirms J&K doctor Umar Nabi was driving Hyundayi i20 that exploded in Red Fort blast

Investigators have confirmed through DNA testing that the man behind the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort was Dr Umar Un Nabi, a medical professional from Kashmir. His body was blown apart in the blast, which killed 9 people and injured dozens on November 10.

According to officials, DNA samples taken from Dr Umar’s mother in Pulwama, south Kashmir, matched the remains recovered from the white Hyundai i20 used in the explosion. Investigators had already suspected Umar’s involvement, as he had purchased the car just 11 days before the blast.

Security agencies now believe Umar was part of a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) logistics module operating across Faridabad, Lucknow and south Kashmir, comprising up to ten members — including several doctors. The group allegedly used their medical credentials to procure chemicals and materials for making explosives.
