Canada Indian couple harassment: A disturbing video from Peterborough, Ontario, showing a group of young Canadian men racially abusing and threatening an Indian couple in a parking lot has gone viral, drawing widespread condemnation on social media. Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the incident.
According to the Peterborough Police Service, the incident occurred on July 29, 2025, at the Lansdowne Place Mall parking lot. The video, originally shared by the victim on Facebook,
. When the Indian man tried to photograph the car’s license plate, one of the men yelled out, “Do you want me to get out of the vehicle and f***ing kill you?”. The group also uttered comments like “big nose” and “f***ing immigrant,” and one individual exited the truck to make obscene gestures, including simulating sexual acts against the couple’s car. The victims also complained that their car was rammed and damaged.
Some are trying to defend the driver of the truck in this disgusting hate-motivated incident in Peterborough.

Police Action And Charges
Peterborough Police said that an 18-year-old man from the City of Kawartha Lakes has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. While there is no separate “hate crime” charge under Canadian law for this incident, police confirmed that the case includes a hate-bias element, which will be addressed during court proceedings. The defendant has been released on an undertaking and will next be seen in court on September 16, 2025.“Anybody who watches the video will realize that this sort of conduct is not acceptable within our community, or any community,” stated Peterborough Police Service Chief Stuart Betts.

He asked people to keep reporting hate-bias incidents, indicating that “Reporting these incidents is important to helping us gather the information necessary to investigate and bring charges when necessary. We’re dedicated to keeping our community safe for anyone who lives, works, or visits here.”
