We are talking about Vani Kapoor and Fawad Khan starrer ‘Abir Gulal’, which was scheduled to release on 9 May 2025. But after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, when the film Body Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) demanded a boycott of Pakistani actors in India, the release of the film was also stopped. Now after three months of the old release date, the film’s makers have decided that they will leave India this month and screen it all over the world.
When will Vani Kapoor and Fawad Khan’s ‘Abir Gulal’ be released?
According to reports, ‘Abir Gulal’ will be released worldwide on August 29. The film will be screened in UK, United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore and Middle East. However, the film will not be released in India. According to the Mid Day report, it is not yet clear whether the film will be released in Pakistan or not. Based on sources, it is being said that ‘Abir Gulal’ has not yet received the green flag from Pakistan’s three Provincial Certification Organization Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Punjab Film Censor Board (PFCB) and Sindh Board of Film Censor (SBFC).
Will ‘Abir Gulal’ be released on OTT in India?
According to this report, no Indian streaming platform has bought ‘Abir Gulal’ yet. At a time when the sale of digital rights earns a lot of films, ‘Abir Gulal’ not having a deal with any Indian OTT platform is a big deal in itself. Till now it is believed that there will be no digital streaming of this film in India.
Fawad Khan was returning to Bollywood from ‘Abir Gulal’
Aarti S. The Pakistani actor was going to be seen in an Indian film after 9 years of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ released in 2016 from ‘Abir Gulal’ directed by Bagdi. Due to his being a Pakistani, the film was banned in India. Earlier, Diljit Dosanjh starrer Punjabi film ‘Sardar Ji 3’ was banned in India due to its lead heroine Hania Aamir (who is a Pakistani actress). The film was released on 27 June 2025 all over the world including Quit India.
