IPL’s Biggest Trade Yet! Sanju Samson set to join CSK in stunning Jadeja-Curran swap – Final decision expected by THIS date

IPL 2026 Trade Window: The IPL 2026 trade window is heating up, and one blockbuster move has already caught everyone’s attention, a potential three-player swap involving Ravindra Jadeja Sam Curran , and Sanju Samson .

As per reports of Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have started the formal process for this high-profile trade. However, the deal isn’t official yet – it’s still going through the 48-hour formalization period required under IPL’s trade regulations.

Trade in Progress, Not Yet Official

According to sources close to both franchises, all three players have given their consent, and the Expression of Interest (EOI) process has been initiated. The paperwork is underway, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet received an official notification from either team.

A top IPL official told Cricbuzz that the matter has not yet reached the BCCI formally, even though insiders from both franchises confirm that signatures are in place and the deal is being processed.

“Consent has been obtained from all three players, and they’ve signed the necessary documents. The trade process will take some time to be finalized,” said a franchise representative.

Since Sam Curran is an overseas player, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will also need to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before the transfer can go through.

How the Mega Trade Looks

If finalized, CSK will reportedly trade Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to RR in exchange for Sanju Samson.

  • Jadeja and Samson were both retained by their teams for Rs 18 crore each last season.
  • Curran, bought by CSK for Rs 2.4 crore during the last mega auction, adds balance to the deal.

Initially, Rajasthan Royals were keen on Dewald Brevis, but CSK declined to release him. That’s when Curran was included in the talks to make the trade more balanced.

This trade, if completed, could mark one of the most sensational moves in IPL history – sending two star all-rounders to Rajasthan while bringing India’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson to Chennai.

Mixed Reactions Across the IPL Circle

The news has divided fans and former players. Suresh Raina, one of CSK’s biggest legends, has openly urged the franchise not to let Ravindra Jadeja go.

“Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He’s a match-winner and a gun player for CSK. He’s been a pillar of the team for years, and he should continue with them,” Raina said.

Fans on social media have echoed similar sentiments, with many calling Jadeja “irreplaceable” in yellow.

How IPL Trades Actually Work

IPL trades aren’t as simple as player swaps – there’s a strict process defined by the BCCI. Here’s a quick breakdown of how it works during the IPL Trade Window:

Expression of Interest (EOI): A team interested in a player sends an EOI to the BCCI. BCCI then notifies the player’s current team. The team has 48 hours to respond. If they don’t, the EOI is rejected automatically.

Player Consent: Once both franchises agree, the player must sign a Consent Form, confirming willingness to move. If the player is overseas, an NOC from their national board is mandatory.

Negotiated Fee Changes: Teams can renegotiate the player’s salary – either an increase or decrease. Any increase is split between the player and the selling franchise (usually 50-50). In case of a decrease, the buying franchise gets a one-time compensation.

Medical & Fitness Checks: The buying franchise must ensure the player is fit at the time of trade, sometimes requiring a medical test.

BCCI Approval: The final step involves BCCI’s approval, after which the trade becomes official and public.

What Happens Next

The Jadeja-Curran-Samson trade could become official within a few days if all approvals – including the ECB’s NOC for Curran – come through. Until then, it remains “in process.”

If confirmed, it would mark a massive shake-up ahead of IPL 2026, with both franchises potentially redefining their core strengths.

For now, fans are eagerly waiting for the official word from the IPL or BCCI and if this mega trade does go through, it could be one of the most talked-about moments in recent IPL history.
