Himyatsagar reservoir in Hyderabad swells, three floodgates lifted

Due to heavy rainfall increasing inflows, Himayat Sagar Reservoir raised three floodgates by three feet at 8 pm, releasing 3,000 cusecs of water into the Musi River to manage reservoir levels

Hyderabad: Three floodgates of Himayatsagar Reservoir were raised on Monday at 8 pm due to a rapid increase in inflows.

“Rainfall in the catchment area has led to an increased inflow into the Himayat Sagar reservoir. With reservoir levels approaching full capacity, three gates were raised by three feet at 8 pm. This action will release 3,000 cusecs of water into the Musi River,” according to an official release of the.

The Hyderabad Water Board released the latest water levels of the twin reservoirs, recorded at 8 pm.

Osman Sagar: FTL: 1790 feet (3.900 TMC)

Present level: 1783.85 feet (2.641 TMC)

Inflows: 600

Himayat Sagar: FTL: 1763.50 feet (2.970 TMC)

Present Level: 1762.45 feet (2.687 TMC)

Inflows: 2800 Cusecs

Outflow: 2972 Cusecs

Gates: 3 Gates opened for 3 feet height
