Fast pace of irrigation projects in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav gave instructions to complete the work within the time limit.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Harda will soon become the first 100 percent irrigated district of Madhya Pradesh. The Rs 756 crore project will benefit 39,976 hectares of land. Instructions have been given to complete irrigation projects across the state within the stipulated time.

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is going to create history once again. Harda district is soon moving towards becoming the first 100 percent irrigated district of the state. This achievement will be possible through Shaheed Elap Singh Micro Lift Irrigation Project.

756 crore project will provide benefit of permanent irrigation

This project, costing about Rs 756.76 crore, will provide permanent irrigation facility in 39,976 hectare area of ​​Harda district. 42% of the project work has been completed in the last 16 months. After its completion, sufficient water will reach the tail end area of ​​Tawa Irrigation Project for Rabi crops, which will also benefit those farmers who did not have the facility of irrigation earlier. The Chief Minister said that the primary goal of the government is to irrigate one crore hectares of agricultural area of ​​the state and this work is continuing in a planned manner.

Important approval taken in the meeting of Narmada Valley Development Authority

Dr. Yadav was presiding over the 268th meeting of Narmada Valley Development Authority, 85th of Narmada Control Board and 33rd meeting of Narmada Basin Projects Company Limited held at Mantralaya on Monday. The proposals of various projects and their provisions were approved in the meeting.

Instructions to complete the projects within the time limit

The Chief Minister reviewed the updated status of all irrigation projects and water conservation structures. He gave clear instructions to the officials that the deadline of any project should not be extended and all the work should be completed on time. Also, instructions were given to fulfill the financial needs by better coordination with Asian and International monetary institutions.

Emphasis on regular monitoring and coordination from the center

The Chief Minister said that all projects related to irrigation facilities should be monitored regularly. Senior officers should maintain constant coordination with the Jal Shakti Ministry of the Central Government and work focused towards the set goals.

He said that keeping in mind Simhastha 2028, the construction work of ghats and water structures of Shipra river in Ujjain should be completed by December 2027. He also talked about taking cooperation from CSR funds of religious institutions and companies in the construction of cowsheds, ghats and dharamshalas in Ujjain.

2 lakh hectares of land irrigated in tribal areas

Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat said that in the last two years, irrigation facilities have been provided in about 2 lakh hectare area in the tribal areas of Harda, Barwani and Dhar districts. A total of Rs 6,640 crore has been spent on these projects, benefiting farmers from about 600 villages. The Chief Minister congratulated the department for this excellent work and said that this is a big step towards the overall development of the state.

Progress review of major projects

Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Dr. Rajesh Rajoura said that

  • Sleemanabad Tunnel Alignment work is almost complete and will be completed by 31 January 2026.
  • Upon completion of the project, the area will become a leader in agricultural production.

The Chief Minister said that Badnagar area of ​​Ujjain should be included in the Parvati, Kalisindh and Chambal National River Link Project. Also asked to establish coordination with UP government for Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh joint irrigation project on Chitrakoot-Mandakini river.

Tapti Mega Recharge and other projects

The Chief Minister also reviewed the Tapti Mega Recharge Project and said that the entire water share of the state should be used for irrigation and drinking water supply. Additional Chief Secretary said that proposals worth Rs 12,000 crore for other regional projects including Badnagar, Neemuch and Javad have been sent to the Central Government. The Center has asked for DPR (Detail Project Report). If approved, it will become part of the Ken-Betwa National River Link Project.

He told that-

  • 96% work of Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur project has been completed.
  • ISP-Kalisindh Lift Micro Project has also completed 96% work and will be finished by 31st December 2025.
  • 95% work of Dahi Lift Project is complete, the remaining will be completed by June 30, 2026.
  • Sendhwa (Barwani) Micro Lift Irrigation Project will provide irrigation to 9,855 hectare area of ​​29 villages.
  • The Niwali Lift Project will irrigate 33,000 hectares of land in 92 villages.
  • Water will be transported from Maa Rewa Lift Project (Dewas) to the last end of Barna Project.
