Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra approach Bombay High Court
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, have moved the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the criminal case registered by the Economic Offences Wing. The writ petitions have been filed through their lawyer, Advocate Prashant Patil, who confirmed that the matter has been listed before the High Court for consideration.
Speaking about the development, to News 9 Advocate Prashant Patil said, “The FIR registered by the Economic Offence Wing against my clients, Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Mr Raj Kundra, has been challenged by my clients before the Honourable High Court by filing a Writ Petition for quashing.”
He further added, “My clients believe that the said case is an outcome of a civil dispute and does not amount to criminality.” According to sources, the Economic Offences Wing had registered a case against Raj Kundra and others in connection with a financial matter. However, the couple contends that the dispute was purely civil in nature and is being wrongfully pursued under criminal provisions. The petitions filed by Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra argue that there is no material evidence suggesting any fraudulent intent or criminal conspiracy.
Advocate Prashant Patil also emphasised that his clients have full faith in the judicial system and wish to present their side lawfully before the court. He stated that Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are cooperating with all legal procedures and are confident that justice will prevail.
The Bombay High Court is now expected to hear the couple’s plea for quashing the FIR in the coming days. The development has once again brought the spotlight on the couple, who have earlier faced scrutiny over Raj Kundra’s business ventures but have consistently maintained their innocence.
