‘Producer said- stay with me, I will give you money every month’, Renuka Shahane’s shocking revelation

Regarding Women’s Safety, actress Renuka Shahane revealed that at the beginning of her career, a married producer had offered her to live with him on monthly salary. When they refused, he took the same offer to someone else.

According to Renuka Shahane, wife of Ashutosh Rana and actress who has worked in films like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, a producer had offered her to live with him on monthly salary. According to him, this was the time when his career had just started. Actually, during an interview Renuka was talking about women’s safety. During this, he also talked about actress Raveena Tandon and told how despite coming from a film family, she had to be very alert and careful on the film sets.

Producer gave objectionable offer to Renuka Shahane

“A producer came to my house and started making me offers. He told me that he was married. He asked me about becoming the brand ambassador of a saree company. He told me that if I stay with him, he will pay me a salary every month. Both my mother and I were shocked to hear this,” Renuka Shahane said in a Zoom conversation. According to Renuka, she rejected the producer’s offer and then he went to someone else with the same offer. Renuka emphasized that it is not so easy for many people in the film industry. Because powerful people often create problems for those who oppose them. According to Renuka, “Sometimes when you reject someone’s offer, they become vindictive and tell others not to take you. This is a danger. This did not happen to me. But it can happen.”

Renuka said that if a victim complains of harassment, he often has to face retaliation. Either he is removed from the project or he is harassed. Sometimes their money is refused. “It’s a club that comes together and tries to torture the victim even more,” she says.

Renuka Shahane gave the example of Raveena Tandon

Renuka gave the example of Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon and told how she too had to be cautious on the film sets. According to Renuka, “Raveena was a big heroine and she came from the industry. But she told me that ‘during the shoot, we had to change our room every day, so that no one would know in which room we were staying and they would not come and create trouble for us.’ According to Renuka, often actors and producers would start knocking on the doors of actresses’ rooms at night and even any caution did not help.

#MeToo movement has weakened: Renuka Shahane

Renuka Shahane also says that the #MeToo campaign has weakened with time. Those who were accused have returned to work despite serious allegations. She says, “The problem is that the accused in the MeToo movement are doing a very good job of forgetting everything after 5-6 years. If you accuse someone and there is no backup like a police case, then people question you only if the allegations are not proven.”
