These days a new revolution is going on in the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This boom has made many people working in the tech sector extremely rich overnight. After the IPO of companies like SpaceX, a whole army of new millionaires has emerged, while the wait is still on for big companies like OpenAI and Anthropic to go public. Amidst this new rain of wealth, famous philanthropist Melinda French Gates has put a big demand in front of these new tech giants. Melinda has appealed to these rich people to pledge to donate at least half of their total wealth for the welfare of the society. He believes that with such great wealth also comes some serious responsibilities towards the society.
Take decision now on IPO earnings
While talking to Fortune Magazine, Melinda gave a strict advice to all those who are going to make huge profits from the IPO of tech companies in the coming time. He said that this decision to donate should be taken today instead of leaving it for tomorrow. Melinda said, ‘Decide today that you will return at least half of your earnings to the society. No matter how small or big this amount is. If you have the capacity to invest in these IPOs, then believe me, you are fully capable of donating half your wealth also.
Country’s resources play a big role in success
After all, why should anyone donate their hard-earned money? Melinda gives a very logical answer to this. He argues that all of America’s richest people are indebted to their country for their success. If seen from the perspective of a common man, this is absolutely correct. Roads, electricity, water, public infrastructure, excellent education system and strong healthcare, these are all the things which make creation of multi-billion dollar companies possible. It is the responsibility of every citizen to fulfill their duty towards the country which helped you achieve such a great position.
Open doors to your safe for women’s health
Melinda Gates herself is a big example in this matter. Melinda, who has an estimated net worth of $19 billion, started ‘The Giving Pledge’ in 2010 along with her ex-husband Bill Gates and famous investor Warren Buffett. The simple objective of this initiative is to inspire the world’s richest people to donate a major part of their wealth. So far, more than 250 rich people including Airbnb’s Brian Chesky, McKenzie Scott, Canva co-founder Cliff Obrecht have become part of this campaign. After separating from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Melinda is now bringing change in the society through the organization ‘Pivotal’. Recently he has announced to donate 215 million dollars for research on women’s health and menopause.
It is absolutely wrong to flaunt wealth
When Melinda was asked about the behavior of billionaires that disappoints her the most, her answer was very clear. He doesn’t like rich people who show off their wealth. He said clearly, ‘I never felt that it was right for billionaires to flaunt their wealth like this. This show-off doesn’t do anyone any good. It is fine to buy nice expensive things for yourself, but there is no need to present it to the world like a show.
