New Delhi: Thousands of citizens participated in a 10-kilometre “Unity March” in Gorakhpur to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, widely known as the “Iron Man of India.” This march is part of a nationwide series of events organized to honour Patel’s pivotal role in uniting India and strengthening national integrity.
The initiative also marks the 150th year of India’s national song, Vande Mataram. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the march, emphasizing the significance of national unity and integrity. He highlighted how Patel integrated princely states and shaped a united India, reminding citizens that true patriotism includes responsibility toward the nation.

The march witnessed participation from thousands of people from all walks of life, coming together to reaffirm their commitment to the country’s unity. The Chief Minister urged schools and colleges to promote Vande Mataram through recitation and group singing, instilling patriotism and pride among the youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Yogi Adityanath stressed that threats to India’s unity must be identified and countered effectively to prevent any challenge to the nation’s integrity. He reiterated Patel’s message that freedom is not just independence but also fulfilling our responsibilities toward the country. A vigilant and aware youth is vital for maintaining a strong and free India.

The Chief Minister paid tribute to Sardar Patel’s legacy and Vande Mataram’s creator, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, acknowledging their immense contributions to the nation.
