For Saiyaara’s Success, John Abraham Credits Not Aneet Padda Or Ahaan Panday But Aditya Chopra; Here’s Why

Saiyaara, the movie has been garnering praise for its fresh pairing and compelling storyline. Starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, directed by Mohit Suri, the romantic drama has been well received at the box office, becoming a major commercial success since its release on July 18 by grossing over Rs 500 crore worldwide. Praising the film, John Abraham has also joined the list. He credited the success of Saiyaara to producer Aditya Chopra for having faith in newcomers and getting the film out theatrically.

John Abraham, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Tehran, recently spoke to India Today about the reasons he belives are behind the massive success of Saiyaara. He praised Mohit Suri for his storytelling and credited Aditya Chopra for showing faith in newcomers.

He said, “I am so happy about the film doing so well. I give credit to Mohit Suri because he directed it so well. He’s gone all out. I am in love with Mohit as a person, and he’s a darling and we all said we’re all celebrating his success. So, hats off to him. But, major credit to Aditya Chopra for getting a film out theatrically with two newcomers. His faith in newcomers worked. I really hope the film goes on to enjoy more success. I want all these films to run because I want people to come back to the theatres.”

John’s Tehran is to be released directly on OTT rather than in theatres. On film not getting a theatrical release, the actor said, “I totally believe it deserved a theatrical release. I have often said that I am a big-screen actor. But I understand the predicament of this film because what we thought was our biggest advantage — the Iran-Israel conflict — turned out to be our Achilles heel. We were told that the content was supposedly too explosive to get into theatres, if you can read between the lines. And this was not only in India, but even internationally.”
