According to the legend, after marrying Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati took her to Mount Kailash. One day he told Lord Shiva that every woman goes to her husband’s house after marriage, but I feel as if even after marriage I am at my father’s house.
Mahadev made Kashi his home
After listening to Mother Parvati, Lord Shiva brought her to earth. Then he made Kashi, situated on the banks of Ganga, his home. Lord Mahadev is present in the form of Vishwanath Jyotirlinga in the Kashi Vishwanath Temple located in Kashi. This temple is a center of faith for the devotees. It is believed that whoever visits Mahadev here with a true heart, all his troubles are destroyed. Also, peace and prosperity comes in his life.
Here one gets salvation after death
It is believed that whoever worships Lord Vishwanath here daily, Mahadev takes the entire burden of his life on his shoulders. The troubles of the devotees end here. Lord Shiva gives the path of salvation to the devotees. For this reason Kashi is called the city of salvation. It is said that the one whose soul dies in Kashi attains salvation after death.
