Do Muslims have permission in RSS? What did Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat say on this question?

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that people of all religions can come to the Sangh as sons of Mother India. The Sangh does not support politics but national policy. Expressing respect for the tricolor, he said that RSS always respects it.

New Delhi. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed an event organized in Bengaluru on the occasion of the centenary year of RSS. During this, in response to the question whether Muslims are allowed to be a part of the RSS, he said, “No Brahmin is allowed in the Sangh, no person of any caste is allowed, no Muslim is allowed, no Christian is allowed… People of different sects, Muslim or Christian, can come to the Sangh while maintaining their separate identities.

Every person who comes to the branch is a son of Mother India.

Bhagwat further said, “When you come to the shakha, you come as a son of Mother India. Muslims and Christians come to the shakha, but we do not count them, we do not ask who they are.” He said, the Sangh does not support any person or political party, but policies. If Congress had supported the demand for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, then RSS workers themselves would have supported it.

The work of the Sangh is to unite the society.

Sangh chief Bhagwat said, “We do not support any political party. We do not take part in electoral politics. The Sangh works to unite the society and politics is divisive. We support the policies. For example, we wanted Ram temple in Ayodhya, so our volunteers stood in favor of its construction.” He further said that BJP also did the same. “If Congress had supported it, our volunteers would have voted for it,” Bhagwat said.

Not in union politics, in support of national policy

“We have no special attachment to any one party. There is no Sangh party; no party is ours and all parties are ours because they are Indian parties. We support national policy, not politics. We have our own views and we want this country to move in a particular direction. We will support those who will take the country in that direction.

What did the Sangh chief say on the opposition of RSS?

Regarding the opposition from RSS, the Sangh chief said, whenever there has been opposition, the Sangh has stood stronger. This comment of Mohan Bhagwat comes after the statements of Congress leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in which they had advocated banning the Sangh. Kharge had said that he believed that RSS should be banned. Several Congress leaders, including Kharge’s son and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge, had recently criticized the RSS.

What did Bhagwat say about Sangh’s views on the national flag?

Regarding the RSS’s views on the national flag, Bhagwat said, the RSS had adopted its saffron flag in 1925 and the national flag was decided in 1933. He said, “The Flag Committee had unanimously recommended the traditional saffron flag. But then Mahatma Gandhi intervened and for some reason he suggested three colours. Since its inception, the Sangh has always respected, revered and protected the tricolour.” He further said that there is no question of saffron with the tricolor. He further said, “The Communist Party has a red flag. The Congress Party has the tricolor with the charkha. The Republican Party has a blue flag. So we have our own saffron flag and we respect our national flag.”
