Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah to arrive in Kolkata to kickstart South Africa Test preparations

Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah will arrive in Kolkata on November 9 to start their preparations for the South Africa test series. According to a PTI report the first test match of the series will take place at Eden Gardens on November 14. Gill will lead the team as their test skipper of the first time at the age of 25 while the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be serving as the vice-captain.

Pant will make his test comeback after a long injury break to become Shubman Gill’s Test deputy captain. The star players like Axar Patel and Washington Sundar will be joining Gill and Bumrah in Kolkata on November 9 after directly flying from Brisbane where they played with the T20I team.

Indian Squad Gathers in Kolkata for Upcoming Series

“Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel will fly directly to Kolkata from Brisbane. They are expected to check in by evening,” a local team manager confirmed to PTI. “The entire South Africa squad will also check in on Sunday,” the manager added.

India Prepares For South Africa Tests

The Indian test team will be having additional members that will include players like Pant, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj and three more players who are Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Kumar Reddy who will join the team in separate groups on Monday. The team will start their training program on Tuesday and later the team will begin their series after achieving a solid beginning in their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign through their 2-2 draw against England in England and their 2-0 victory against West Indies at home in October.
