Karnataka Minister KN Rajanna resigned from the Cabinet on Monday after his statement admitting voter list revision irregularities during the Congress government tenure irked the high command.
Earlier in the day, Rajanna, who is known to be a close aide of CM Siddaramaiah, had said that the voter list revisions happened “right in front of our eyes”. He went on and said it was not properly monitored. Criticising the Congress for staying silent on the issue, he said, “It is a shame for us that we did not monitor it”.
He slammed the Election Commission for alleged wrongdoing, claiming it “did what they should not have done”. He alleged that the list was altered to benefit PM Modi. He accepted that Congress failed to raise timely objection and has now been intructed to stay vigilant.

Rajanna’s claims are daunting for Congress, which has opened the front against the poll body and the BJP, alleging ‘vote chori’.
Rajanna’s statement also gave fuel to the BJP, which took no time to wield it against Congress. Seizing the opportunity, BJP’s Amit Malviya slammed Rahul Gandhi for running a ‘fake vote chori’ campaign.
In a post on X, he said, “In another blow to Rahul Gandhi’s fake Vote Chori campaign, Karnataka Cooperation Minister K. N. Rajanna, a tall Valmiki leader and considered close to Siddaramaiah, admitted, Voter rolls were prepared during the Congress’ tenure.”
