Government’s big disclosure about fake notes, so much fake currency caught in a year

During the financial year 2024-25, the government has shared an important information about fake notes. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed through a written answer in the Lok Sabha that the highest design notes were found in these fake notes, whose number was 1,17,722.

It was told in Parliament on Monday that a total of 2.17 lakh fake notes have been caught in this financial year. This figure is slightly less than last year, when 2.23 lakh fake notes were detected. 51,069 notes of 100 rupees and 32,660 notes of 200 rupees were caught in fake notes.

Constant steps to deal with fake notes

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the government together are constantly making efforts to deal with fake notes. The RBI periodically reviews the safety characteristics of bank notes and changes them when needed. He said, “Bringing new safety technology and design in bank notes is a continuous process so that it can be ahead of the fraudsters.”

Continuous increase in properties of private companies

In response to another question, the minister said that the net fix asset of private limited companies is continuously increasing. According to the RBI, the assets of these companies have recorded an increase of 7.6%in 2021-22, 10.3%in 2022-23, and 10.2%in 2023-24.

The number of investment projects doubled

The government also informed that the investment environment in the country is getting better. According to the RBI August 2024 bulletin, where 401 investment projects were approved in 2021-22, their number increased to 944 in 2023-24. That is, in just two years, this number was more than doubled. During the same period, the total cost of these projects increased from ₹ 1.4 lakh crore to ₹ 3.9 lakh crore, which shows a rapid rise in investment.
