Amidst Bihar Assembly elections-2025, Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and national president of Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD), has taken major action against his own party’s candidate. He has appealed to the Chief Electoral Officer, Patna (Bihar) to expel the party’s candidate Shyam Kishore Chaudhary from Sugauli (Assembly Constituency No. 11) with immediate effect and cancel his nomination.

Reason for expulsion and cancellation of nomination

In the official letter issued by Tej Pratap Yadav, the main reason for the action has been stated as ‘anti-party activities’ and ‘violation of rules’.

what is the allegation

  • Getting the support of the Grand Alliance: Shyam Kishore Choudhary organized the election program by getting the support of the Grand Alliance without any prior information to the top leadership of the party and the Central Committee.
  • Going against party ideas: The candidate campaigning by posting photographs with the leaders of the Grand Alliance was contrary to the ideology, rules and ideals of the party, which has been considered ‘fraudulent and a violation of the model code of conduct’.
  • Indiscipline: The party considered this to be gross indiscipline by a political candidate.
  • Decision of the Central Committee: After thorough deliberations by the Central Committee of Janashakti Janata Dal, it was decided that the action of Shyam Kishore Choudhary is against the constitution and rules of the party, hence his candidature should be canceled with immediate effect.

What did Tej Pratap say?

National President of Janashakti Janata Dal, Tej Pratap Yadav clarified that the step taken by Shyam Kishore Chaudhary was not the right decision for the party under any circumstances. He said, “Janshakti Janata Dal has its own constitution and rules. Shyam Kishore Chaudhary took this step against the rules and ideology of the party, which was not found appropriate after investigation by the Central Committee of the party. Therefore, through a letter, we have informed the Chief Electoral Officer, Patna (Bihar) about this anti-party incident and appealed to cancel the nomination with immediate effect. We relieve Shyam Kishore Chaudhary from all posts including that of the party candidate with immediate effect.”

This strict decision of the party makes it clear that Janashakti Janata Dal will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline or coordination with the opposition group during the elections. Now all eyes are on the Chief Electoral Officer to see what action he takes on the appeal of the party president.
