Soldiers and their families practiced yoga collectively on International Yoga Day in Garhi Cantt, Dehradun. The message of a healthy, balanced and stress-free life was given through yoga and pranayam.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, a special atmosphere of awareness towards yoga and health was seen in Uttarakhand Sub Area, headquartered in Garhi Cantt, Dehradun. The soldiers and their families enthusiastically participated in the program organized under the theme “Yoga – Light for Eternal Life” and “Healthy Life through Yoga” and resolved to make Yoga a part of daily life.
The objective of the program was not limited to just practicing yoga, but also to promote physical fitness, mental balance and positive changes in lifestyle. A large number of participants present gave the message of healthy life by practicing various yogasanas and pranayama.
The program started with Vedic chanting
The yoga session began with the chanting of Vedic mantras, which infused spiritual energy into the entire atmosphere. After this, under the guidance of trainers, such yogasanas and pranayam were done, which people can easily include in their daily routine.
People of all age groups, from children to senior citizens, participated in the program. The organizers particularly emphasized on exercises that are helpful in improving mental peace, stress management and strengthening physical stamina.
Emphasis given on making yoga a lifestyle
The event was organized in collaboration with Indian Yogini Association, Adhya Kaushalam Trust and Patanjali Yogpeeth. The yoga session was conducted by Sadhvi Devditi and Ms. Shikha. Both the instructors also informed the participants about the practical and scientific benefits of yoga.
Headquarters Uttarakhand Sub Area appreciated all the institutions and trainers who helped in making the program successful. Officials said yoga is not just a one-day event but a permanent practice for better health and a balanced life. This event of Yoga Day once again gave the message that regular yoga practice not only keeps the body healthy but also plays an important role in developing mental strength and positive thinking. The active participation of soldiers and their families made the program more inspiring.
