On International Yoga Day, yoga camps were organized in all 33 jails of Chhattisgarh. In Raipur Central Jail, 650 prisoners took the message of stress-free and positive life by doing yoga.

Raipur. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, special yoga programs were organized with enthusiasm and gaiety in all the 33 jails of Chhattisgarh. During this time, a large number of prisoners, jail officers and employees practiced yoga and gave the message of healthy living and mental balance.

Jail Director General (DG) Shri Himanshu Gupta was present as the chief guest in the main program organized at Raipur Central Jail. In his address, he said that due to the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today Yoga has got global recognition and the whole world is adopting this invaluable heritage of Indian culture.

Jail DG Himanshu Gupta told the real importance of yoga

Shri Himanshu Gupta said that Yoga is not limited to physical exercise only, but it is a medium to establish harmony between mind, body and soul. He said that yoga connects a person with his consciousness, breath and thoughts and infuses positive energy in life. He further said that the ancient Indian system of yoga plays an important role in reducing mental stress, increasing concentration and strengthening the body’s immunity. This is the reason why yoga is being adopted all over the world today.

650 prisoners practiced yoga in Raipur Central Jail

About 500 prisoners of male cell and 150 female prisoners of female cell actively participated in the special yoga camp organized in Central Jail Raipur. The program was organized on a large scale, in which various methods of yoga and meditation were practiced. The yoga session was conducted by experienced yoga instructor Mr. Anil Aggarwal of Art of Living and his team. He trained the participants in various yoga asanas, pranayam and meditation techniques.

Yoga training conducted for stress free and positive life

The aim of this special event was to help the prisoners overcome problems like mental stress, depression, negative thinking and emotional pressure. Through the yoga camp, efforts were made to develop self-confidence, discipline, self-control and positive thinking towards life. Experts said that regular yoga practice helps in improving mental and physical health as well as bringing positive changes in a person’s behavior and thinking.

Exercises were done from Tadasana to Kapalbhati.

During the yoga camp, participants were made to practice major yoga asanas like Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, Bhujangasana and Pawanmuktasana. Along with this, procedures like Anulom-Vilom, Kapalbhati and meditation were also practiced. Yoga instructors gave detailed information to the prisoners present about the physical and mental benefits of these yoga activities and inspired them to do yoga regularly.

Special presence of jail administration and yoga instructors

Jail Superintendent Shri Yogesh Singh Kshatriya and other officers and employees of the jail administration were present in the program. The trainers of Art of Living organization also played an important role in making the yoga session successful. The event concluded with a resolution to lead a healthy, balanced and positive life.
