Tabu, whose real name is Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, was just a teenager at that time and would accompany her elder sister, Farah Naaz, who was also an actress and was working on the film, Diljalaa, featuring Jackie Shroff. According to Orrisa Post, a party was thrown by fellow actor, Danny Denzongpa, while they were shooting in Mauritius. Tabu accompanied her sister to the party.
It is reported that Jackie Shroff made unwanted advances towards Tabu and it was believed that he was under the influence of alcohol. He allegedly tried to kiss Tabu forcefully, and she did her best to resist him. However, it was Danny who handled the situation and forcefully took Jackie away.
