The main reason for dampness in the house is somewhere in the walls or floor from where moisture is coming in. Many times, due to blockage in the pipeline or lack of proper ventilation, the smell of dampness starts emanating.
To get rid of the damp smell and reduce the moisture in the house, you should first identify what is causing it. Get these places repaired. Apart from this, some household things like baking soda, lemon juice are also effective in removing the smell of dampness.

Baking soda-lemon will work
To mop the house, add baking soda and lemon juice to water. This will also kill bacteria and there will be a nice fresh scent in your house. If you want, you can also spray lemon juice by mixing it in 1 liter of water.
Eliminate leakage problem
To ensure that there is no dampness or foul smell inside the house during monsoon, first of all you should eliminate the problem of leakage, get dampness-proof paint applied on the places where dampness occurs or seal the cracks properly with cement.
Use activated charcoal
Make small pouches of activated charcoal, tie them in cotton or muslin cloth, make a bundle and keep them at different places in the house. This also eliminates the smell of dampness, because activated charcoal has a good ability to absorb dampness, moisture and bad smell. These pouches just need to be exposed to sunlight every few days so that they get charged again.
