No idea what led to explosion, waiting for experts, says Sigachi CEO

Stating that 40 people died and 33 were injured in the blast, the CEO said there were 90 employees working inside the building when the incident occurred.

Sangareddy: Managing Director and CEO of Sigachi, Amit Raj Sinha on Wednesday reiterated that the management would pay Rs.1 crore as ex gratia in addition to all the insurance claims to the victims’ families.

Speaking to news reporters at the Pashamylaramindustrial area on Wednesday night, Sinha said all the equipment used in the industry was new, though the building was a bit old.

Stating that 40 people died and 33 were injured in the blast, the CEO said there were 90 employees working inside the building when the incident occurred.

The drying unit and air handling units were in good condition, he said, adding that they had no idea what led to the mishap.

Sinha said the management would cooperate with the team of experts constituted by the State government to find out the truth. A decision on the operation of the factory would be taken after 90 days, he said, assuring support to the victims’ families while promising to bear the expenses of treatment.
