New Delhi. A news has come from Kashmir Valley which has surprised people. Usually the collision of birds is heard from airplanes, but this time an eagle shocked everyone by colliding with a train (Train Accident in Kashmir). In this strange incident that took place on Saturday morning in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, the eagle collided with the front glass of train number 74626 going from Baramulla to Banihal with such speed that the front part of the train broke and the loco pilot got injured.
What happened in the train?
This accident happened between Bijbehara and Anantnag Railway Station. Suddenly, a large eagle flying hit the front windshield of the speeding train. The force of the shock was so much that the glass broke and loco pilot Vishal suffered minor injuries on his face and hand. Railway officials immediately stopped the train and the pilot was given first aid at Anantnag railway station. At present, his condition is out of danger.

How did such a big bird collide with the train?
According to officials, this incident is very rare. Generally such big birds do not collide with trains. Northern Railway Officials say that this is the most unique “Bird Hit” incident so far in Kashmir Valley. The Railways is now investigating how the eagle was flying so low and whether it was due to any meteorological or navigational reason.
Was the safety of passengers affected?
Railways immediately started security checks. After Train Safety Inspection, it was confirmed that the engine and coaches are safe. There was no harm to the passengers. However, the train was stopped for some time at Anantnag Railway Station as a precautionary measure.
Is this the first such incident on Kashmir railway link?
Yes, this is being reported as the first case of Kashmir Train Accident with Bird. Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) was recently started, which connects Jammu and Kashmir with the railway network of the entire country. This line was launched on 6 June 2025 and provides all-weather connectivity.
