Mohammed Siraj Dropped For The ODIs Against England: When BCCI announced the Indian team under the captaincy of Shubman Gill for the three-match ODI series against England starting from July 14, everyone was surprised by the absence of one name. Star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has not got a place in the team for this important tour, which has now given rise to many questions. Mohammad Siraj was recently a part of the only Test match played against Afghanistan, but after that he was not a part of the ODI team. Earlier it was believed in the cricket circles that he was given a break keeping in mind the big and important tour of England, but when the ODI team was announced, Siraj’s name was also not included in it.

Is workload management the reason?

Earlier, Siraj was also selected in the initial squad for the T20 International series against Ireland and England, but after a few days he was suddenly dropped from the team. BCCI had already made its position clear on continuously keeping Mohammad Siraj out of the team. In the official statement of the board, it was said that Siraj was not out due to any injury or being unfit. BCCI’s medical team and team management have taken this decision after mutual discussion.

Even though BCCI has called it a part of workload management, fans and cricket pundits are not happy with Siraj being dropped from the ODI series after T20. The absence of an experienced bowler like him against a strong team like England has become a topic of discussion and people are now questioning this decision of the selectors.

Mohammad Siraj’s figures in ODI

Mohammad Siraj has played 50 matches for Team India so far in his ODI career. During this period, he has taken 76 wickets while bowling at an economy rate of 5.13. However, he has played only 2 ODI matches against England and in these matches he has been able to take only 2 wickets. Apart from this, Siraj has not got much opportunities in ODI since 2024, during this period he has been able to play only 9 matches, in which he has taken 8 wickets in his name. Siraj was not selected in the Indian team even for the Champions Trophy last year.
