This 15-year-old opener rewrote the record books by completing his first fifty for India A in just 11 balls. He broke the more than two-decade-old record of Sri Lankan Kaushalya Weeraratne, who had scored a half-century in 12 balls.
When Vaibhav attacked Sri Lankan bowlers

Whose record did Vaibhav Suryavanshi break?
- It seemed that this young left-hander batsman was about to create another historical record. Only six more runs were needed for the century and Suryavanshi was very close to equaling the fastest century in List A cricket. This record is currently in the name of Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, who scored a century in 29 balls against Tasmania while playing for South Australia in 2023.
- However, Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachige ended the youngster’s brilliant innings in the ninth over. He was out for 94 and missed out on getting his name in the record books along with Fraser-McGurk.
India got a new master blaster
This year has been very good for this batsman from Bihar and he has emerged as one of the most promising young players of India. Suryavanshi has got a place in the national team for the first time after his sensational performance in IPL 2026. While playing for Rajasthan Royals, he scored 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.30.
Most sixes hit in IPL
- In that explosive season, he was the tournament’s top run-scorer and also hit a record 72 sixes. This young player also won Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player, Super Striker and Super Six awards.
- India has to play T20 series against Ireland and England in the coming weeks. In such a situation, this new record-breaking performance of Suryavanshi has further increased the expectations regarding this exciting talent of world cricket.
