Can we offer water to Tulsi on Nirjala Ekadashi?

According to Astrologer Pt. Dwivedi Sharma, Ekadashi date is considered dear to Lord Vishnu and Tulsi Mata is also very dear to Lord Vishnu. There is a religious belief that basil leaves should not be plucked on the day of Ekadashi. Similarly, in many traditions, offering water to the Tulsi plant is also avoided on this day. It is believed that on the day of Ekadashi, Tulsi Mata also fasts for Lord Vishnu, hence water should not be offered to her on this day.

When to offer water to Tulsi?

Can we pluck basil leaves on Ekadashi?

One should not pluck Tulsi leaves on Ekadashi date, doing so is considered a great sin. If you need basil leaves for any special purpose then pluck them a day before i.e. on Dashami Tithi and use them. Basil leaves can be used more than once, it is written in religious texts.
